BARBADOS: Pakistan team’s head coach Misbah-ul-Haq said they have 8-9 players and their replacements confirmed in their mind for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
While addressing media in an online meeting, Misbah said the performance in England wasn’t up to the mark but they have nearly a final combination for T20 World Cup within the current squad.
“I know the team didn’t perform up to the expectation in England. But, these players have the potential to do good. We have 8-9 players and their replacements confirmed in our minds for T20 World Cup. Rest will be clarified after this West Indies tour,” the head coach disclosed.
Misbah accepted flaws in the team’s middle-order batting and said this was the most concerning area for them. “We lack in middle-order batting and that cost us a lot. Unfortunately, Hafeez also wasn’t able to fill in the gap in middle-order,” he said.
“I hope these players will be able to come up strongly. We will work together on this and try to overcome our weaknesses well before the mega event,” he added.
Talking about poor bowling performance in England, Misbah repeated ‘They will work on it’. “Our bowlers didn’t bowl the way they did against South Africa and Zimbabwe recently. There is a lot of things that need to be corrected before the T20 World Cup,” he concluded.
