‘Recent COVID-19 spike in Manchester won’t affect ENGvPAK 1st Test’ ECB

Manchester: England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) believes that England’s first Test against Pakistan at Old Trafford will not be affected by extra COVID-19 restrictions in Greater Manchester.

Manchester government has banned separate households from meeting each other indoors across the area.

According to BBC, The ECB states that it will continue to follow government advice but protocols in place will allow the Test match to proceed just like West Indies Test.

New restrictions were imposed at midnight after a spike in COVID-19 cases in Greater Manchester along with other areas in the north.

It must be noted here that Pakistan is scheduled to play three matches Test series against England from August 5 in Manchester. The remaining two Tests will be played at The Rose Bowl. Later on, green shirts will lock horns with the home side in three T20Is at the same venue.
